Description automatically generatedPHOENIX – Dr. Jack Dale Nations spent his 55-year career as a geologist and professor at Northern Arizona University also helping government and commercial enterprises make informed decisions related to the lands of northern Arizona. The Dale Nations Geologic Photographs collection on the Arizona Memory Project contains a small portion of the over 5,000 photographs he took, many of which are aerial views documenting the geologic history of northern Arizona and the Colorado Plateau.

“Dale Nations is foremost a beloved teacher, and his passions for geology and education were the foundation for his classroom success at Northern Arizona University. He contributed numerous specimens to the Museum of Northern Arizona paleontology collection and worked closely with MNA staff. This remarkable collection is a monument to Dale’s exemplary dedication to university and community alike,” said David D. Gillette, Ph.D., former Colbert curator of vertebrate paleontology.

Researchers of geology and Northern Arizona will find the developing Dale Nations Geologic Photographs collection on the Arizona Memory Project indefinitely and on any digital device at http://go.azsos.gov/nationsgeo.
